The 61st Meeting of the European Platform of Regulatory Authorities, Krasniqi: Online child protection and media literacy are priority issues for AMA

Chișinău, 15 May 2025 – The Chair of the Audiovisual Media Authority, Ms. Armela Krasniqi, participated in the 61st Meeting of the European Platform of Regulatory Authorities (EPRA), held in Chișinău, Moldova, with the participation of representatives from EPRA member countries regulatory authorities. 

The meeting marked a significant moment as it coincided with the 30th anniversary of EPRA’s establishment and featured a rich agenda focused on key issues on audiovisual regulation future in Europe.

The main points of the agenda included:

The presentation of EPRA’s new visual identity as a symbolic step in strengthening the platform’s mission and vision in the digital age;

A discussion on the UNESCO Global Forum of Networks, with a strong focus on media literacy and the digital competencies development, presented by Ms. Samrita Menon, a representative of UNESCO;

The presentation of key findings on the public interest framework, delivered by Ms. Deniz Wagner, Adviser at the Office of the OSCE Representative on Media Freedom;

The organization of a thematic session on the protection of on video sharing platforms and social media, where regulatory tools and approaches were addressed to ensure a safe and inclusive digital environment for children.

During this session, representatives from key audiovisual regulatory authorities such as ARCOM (France), AGCOM (Italy), UNESCO, as well as representatives from the Italian Safer Internet Centre contributed as well.

At the end of the meeting, AMA’s Chair, Ms. Armela Krasniqi, stated:

“Participation in international platforms such as EPRA is essential to strengthening the regulatory authorities role in addressing the challenges that the media landscape ongoing transformation brings. Discussions on online child protection, media literacy and user rights are priority issues for AMA and our active engagement in these forums supports alignment with the highest European standards”.

AMA’s participation in this important European platform underscores the authority’s commitment to strengthening international cooperation, exchanging experiences and advancing regulatory capacities in line with the latest developments at the European level.
