The publication “A cure for broken trust: A practical guide for managing infodemics and health misinformation in Albania” was presented at the premises of the Audiovisual Media Authority. The guide was authored by public health communication researcher Thanas Goga, as part of the “Health in Focus” project, supported by AMA.
The event brought together journalists covering health issues in audiovisual media, heads of journalists’ organizations and networks, researchers, and public health professionals.
The publication addresses infodemics as one of the challenges of today’s information environment, where the overwhelming flow of information and the simultaneous circulation of facts, opinions and inaccurate content make it increasingly difficult for the public to navigate information. The consequences of this phenomenon are particularly significant in the health field.
Addressing infodemics requires cooperation between journalists, researchers, healthcare professionals, civil society and institutions. Verified information and reporting grounded in scientific evidence are essential to helping citizens navigate information and make informed decisions about their health.
During 2026, AMA has supported 10 journalism projects implemented by journalists’ associations and networks. This support forms part of an open and inclusive approach that encourages cooperation with the media community, researchers, academia, professional organizations and civil society.
Through these initiatives, AMA aims to strengthen dialogue and build bridges for cooperation, contributing to a professional, pluralistic and resilient media ecosystem that serves the public interest.
