Ms. Armela Krasniqi, Chairwoman of the Audiovisual Media Authority and Mr. Fitim Veliu, member of the Independent Media Commission of Kosovo, signed in Tirana the technical agreement for coordinating the frequency plan for digital terrestrial television (DTT) broadcasting within the 470–694 MHz band.
The agreement aims to coordinate the digital frequency plans of both countries, ensuring the avoidance of cross-border interference and the uninterrupted provision of audiovisual media services.
During the meeting with the IMC delegation, consisting of IMC member Mr. Fitim Veliu, Chief Executive Officer Mr. Niman Racaj, Director of the Monitoring Department Mr. Mirand Tafarshiku, Head of the Frequency Management Division Mr. Besim Rexhepi and Public Relations Officer Mr. Arsim Dreshaj, we also discussed further developments in media market regulation, legal alignment with EU acts and directives, the exchange of experiences and new avenues of cooperation between the two regulators.
According to the parties, the agreement is in line with EU Decision 2017/899 and the decisions of the International Telecommunication Union, reflecting a commitment to the coordinated and efficient use of the frequency spectrum in accordance with European and international standards.
