Krasniqi presents an approach to the digital era challenges at the Balkan Leadership Conference

At the Balkan Leadership Conference, organized by the Universal Peace Federation and the International Association of Parliamentarians for Peace under the support of the Parliament of the Republic of Albania, participants discussed the key challenges relating to media freedom, democracy, and digital governance in the Western Balkans.

The Audiovisual Media Authority’s Chairwoman also took part in the panel discussion entitled “Media Freedom, Democracy and Digital Governance in the Western Balkans,” where she presented the Authority’s institutional approach to addressing the digital era challenges.

In her remarks, Ms. Krasniqi emphasized that safeguarding freedom of expression and ensuring the public’s right to information remain at the core of AMA’s activity. In this context, she outlined the Authority’s institutional approach, built on three key pillars: media ownership transparency, co-regulation with video-sharing platforms and media literacy as the most sustainable instrument for strengthening citizens’ resilience against disinformation and other harmful phenomena in the media landscape.

The Authority also presented the concrete steps undertaken to align the legal framework with European Union standards and to develop modern regulatory mechanisms for the media and digital environment.

The conference brought together parliamentarians, public institutions representatives, regulatory authorities, media professionals, public policy experts, civil society representatives and international organizations from across the Western Balkans.

Discussions focused on the challenges related to media freedom, media pluralism, combating disinformation and the digital space governance in an evolving media landscape.
