Cybersecurity, Krasniqi: Hybrid threats and disinformation require a coordinated institutional response

The Chairwoman of the Audiovisual Media Authority, Ms. Armela Krasniqi, participated in the panel entitled “Hybrid threats in Albania: From foreign interference and disinformation to a coordinated institutional response”, organized by the National Cyber Security Authority (AKSK) in cooperation with Hybrid CoE.

In her remarks, Ms. Krasniqi emphasized that hybrid threats, disinformation and foreign interference increasingly require a coordinated institutional response, as well as a professional, pluralistic and resilient media ecosystem.

“Disinformation is no longer solely a media issue, much less one confined to audiovisual media. It undermines public trust, democratic processes and institutional resilience. For this reason, the response cannot be fragmented”, stated AMA’s Chairwoman.

Ms. Krasniqi emphasized that, for Albania, this challenge is also directly linked to the European integration process and the alignment of its legal and regulatory framework with the European Union acquis.

In this context, she highlighted the role of the Audiovisual Media Services Directive (AVMSD), the European Media Freedom Act (EMFA) and the Digital Services Act (DSA) in establishing a new European framework for the media and digital space. This framework brings together media freedom and pluralism, editorial independence, the protection of minors, platform accountability and measures to address systemic risks online.
