The Chair of AMA, Ms. Armela Krasniqi, has welcomed the start of the journalist training program organized by the Faktoje Center, titled “Disinformation in times of war and conflict.” On the first day of the program, attended by journalists from radio and television stations operating in Tirana, Krasniqi expressed her support for such initiatives, emphasizing the need for public awareness as well as the importance of enhancing journalist’s professionalism in reporting and presenting the content they deliver to the public, particularly when covering war zones or conflict areas.
AMA has offered its support to the Faktoje Center in organizing a training program for journalists on this topic. This training program by Faktoje will extend to Tirana, Elbasan, and Durrës.
While AMA is not legally responsible for fact-checking, in Albania, as across Europe, this process is carried out by NGOs. Fact-checking is essential, as is the role of the media in defending the truth and promoting transparency.
“In this context, and in fulfillment of our legal obligations, that of maintaining a balance between Freedom of Expression and Professional Reporting, AMA remains fully committed to its role in Media Literacy for the public”, said Krasniqi. “We pursue this with two main objectives: enhancing both public and journalists’ ability to navigate information and promoting professional journalism”.
