The Audiovisual Media Authority Chairwoman, Ms. Armela Krasniqi, welcomed the President of the Cyprus Radio Television and Digital Services Authority (CRTDSA), Ms. Rona Kassapi, as well as the Authority’s Director, Ms. Irene Loizidou Nicolaidou, at a meeting held at AMA’s premises, focusing on strengthening institutional cooperation and exchanging experiences on emerging regulatory challenges in the audiovisual media and digital services sectors.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the challenges related to the implementation of the Audiovisual Media Services Directive (AVMSD), the Digital Services Act (DSA), and the regulatory framework for video-sharing platforms. Particular attention was given to complaint-handling mechanisms, the exercise of supervisory powers, the protection of minors, technological developments and the ongoing transformation of the media market.

During the meeting with the heads of AMA’s directorates, the institutional structure, the authority’s competences and operational framework were presented, along with its key work priorities in light of the latest developments in the audiovisual media and digital services sectors. The meeting took place in an open and constructive atmosphere with professional discussions, a question-and-answer session and an exchange of experiences on the regulatory practices of both institutions.
It was emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation between regulatory authorities at a time when digital transformation and the evolving media ecosystem require coordinated approaches and the continuous exchange of expertise.
At the conclusion of the meeting, AMA and CRTDSA agreed to further strengthen institutional cooperation through the exchange of expertise, the organization of study visits and expert exchange programmes, as well as the development of joint initiatives within European networks and regional cooperation platforms.
This joint commitment reflects the shared vision of both institutions for modern, effective and coordinated regulation of audiovisual media and digital services, with the aim of safeguarding the public interest and promoting a safe, reliable and trustworthy media environment.
