Reports from citizens regarding harmful content on TikTok continue to come in. Two weeks since the start of the AMA’s collaboration with this platform and the launch of a dedicated link on the official website of the Authority, where the public can report content they deem harmful, hundreds of such reports have been made.
These reports concern content that includes violence, hate speech, child abuse and communities abuse or violations of fundamental rights.
In the first two weeks of this collaboration, 232 complaints were received by AMA. After they were reviewed by AMA’s legal teams and the Council of Complaints, 77 of these cases were reported to TikTok for legal violations. Of these, 64 of them were removed from the platform, while 13 are still under review.
Once again, what stands out in the published data are the piracy cases, which seem to have circulated in large numbers and freely on the TikTok platform so far.
For the same period, so just two weeks, 436 videos were reported for audiovisual piracy, of which 403 were deleted from the platform, while 48 profiles were immediately closed for the same reason, after the videos were reported.
“Thankful to the citizens who reported, showing high sensitivity and trust in our institution,” wrote Armela Krasniqi, the Chair of AMA, on her social media. “With the confidence that the law gives me, I assure you that every complaint is welcomed and will be reviewed and analyzed in record time by AMA, and above all, with responsibility and caution in its handling, in accordance with the legal provisions.”
