Audiovisual Media Authority’s Chair, Ms. Armela Krasniqi, held a meeting today with representatives of the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly’s pre-electoral observation mission. The meeting took place as part of series of meetings organized by this delegation with various Albanian institutions representatives. During the meeting, Chairwoman Krasniqi responded to the Parliamentary Assembly observers inquiries regarding AMA’s engagement in the electoral process monitoring, the institution’s independence, media ownership transparency – now a completed process – the regulation of Video Sharing Platforms, etc.
Next week with the start of the electoral campaign, AMA will be fully engaged in a highly important process, the elections monitoring. This process was initiated for the first time during the 2021 elections and is carried out based on a methodology developed by the Central Election Commission (CEC). The findings of this monitoring, identified across news editions, debate programs/forums, political advertisements, live coverage of electoral activities etc., are reported by AMA to the CEC.
