For various law violations identified during the period from January to October 2024, the Audiovisual Media Authority has approved 46 fines on different entities: radio stations, television channels, and authorized cable operators.
Based on content monitoring, inspection groups checks, and the review of complaints received by the Council of Complaints, the following types of violations have been noted during this period:
- Broadcasts inciting hatred among citizens
- Broadcasts that violate human dignity and fundamental human rights
- Broadcasts that promote criminal activities
- Broadcasting harmful content for children between 06:00-22:00
- Broadcasts that incite or justify violence
- Violation of standards for broadcasting footage of a serious criminal event
- Violation of the right to privacy
- Non-compliance with equality rights and non-discrimination
- Illegal broadcasting
- Obstruction of inspection
- Failure to declare changes in ownership structure
- Failure to submit financial statements for 2023 on time
- Non-compliance with legal requirements for the broadcast programming content
- Violation of ethical rules and public morals
- Failure to submit the broadcast program catalog
For all these violations, the 10-month period of 2024 was concluded with 46 fines.
The monitoring and further regulation of the audio and audiovisual media market, enforcing the law, and sanctioning violators are some of the objectives of the AMA’s work, aimed at ensuring a professional audiovisual market in Albania.
