The Chairwoman of the Audiovisual Media Authority, Ms. Armela Krasniqi, participated in the Stakeholder Forum 2026, a forum that brought together media regulators, representatives of television and radio broadcasters, EU-level organisations working in the sector, as well as industry stakeholders, for a dialogue on “Media pluralism and the sustainability in a rapidly evolving landscape”.
The discussions in Brussels demonstrated that the European debate on media is entering a new phase. EMFA, digital transformation, global platforms, Artificial Intelligence and changing patterns of media consumption and financing are simultaneously reshaping the market, the role of regulators and the very concept of pluralism.
In this context, pluralism cannot be measured solely by the number of media outlets operating in a market. Increasingly, at European level, the discussion focuses on market structure and concentration, ownership transparency, editorial independence, public access to diverse sources of information and the economic sustainability of the media sector.
One of the key messages emerging from this dialogue is that media pluralism and economic sustainability are not competing objectives, but two conditions that must reinforce one another.
AMA’s participation in this forum in Brussels provides an opportunity to closely follow European developments, while also bringing the Albanian perspective and experience to discussions that are shaping the future of media regulation in Europe.
