AMA’s Chair, Ms. Armela Krasniqi, signed today a Memorandum of Understanding with the State Inspectorate of Market Surveillance. This agreement aims to ensure, prevent, and prohibit violations of broadcasting rights and to contribute to raising awareness on the protection of copyright and its related rights in audio and audiovisual broadcastings.
“Protecting the right to broadcast audiovisual content and the fight against piracy are among our key priorities”- said during the meeting AMA’s Chair. “AMA’s inspection teams are continuously in the field, and the identified violations of the law along with new forms of online piracy, highlight concerning phenomena within the Albanian media market regarding these rights. For this reason, every partner in the fight against violators and in the protection of legitimate entities is not only welcome but also strengthens the prospects for further and improved regulation of the audiovisual market”.
The discussions with the Head of SIMS, Edison Konomi, and his staff focused on the best ways of cooperation related to the signing of this Memorandum, from the creation of a joint Task Force to potential future legal initiatives. The leaders of both institutions have expressed their commitment to draft joint work plans that will contribute to the further regulation of the market, whether in audiovisual media or in ensuring compliance with copyright law.
The agreement signed today aims to enhance inter-institutional cooperation in areas of mutual interest, improving broadcasting market control, increasing efficiency in the implementation of legislation, and ensuring a well-regulated and fair environment in the media sector.
