The Chair of the Audiovisual Media Authority, Armela Krasniqi, presented today to the Parliamentary Commission for Education and Public Information Media the collaboration between AMA and the TikTok social media.
Krasniqi informed that, as part of this collaboration, AMA has opened a section on its website, enabling citizens to submit complaints, a process that continues with the review of each complaint received.
“AMA does not monitor video-sharing platforms. The staff reviewing the complaints submitted via the form (on the AMA website) consists of employees from the Council of Complaints, the Directorate of Integration and International Legislation, the Directorate of Frequency Planning and ICT, as well as the Directorate of Inspection and Supervision. Only videos that violate the law are sent for reporting on the TikTok platform,” explained the Chair of the Audiovisual Media Authority.
Krasniqi, in her information about the AMA and TikTok collaboration regarding the reporting of videos with harmful content, further clarified the legal provisions that this collaboration is based on.
Members of the Commission asked questions regarding the legal limits and how this collaboration works, specifically regarding the handling of videos on the platform that involve criminal matters, etc.
Krasniqi responded that the limit is solely defined by the law, and that the collaboration with TikTok does not include platforms with an editorial line, meaning those that have editorial responsibility. She also provided further clarifications about the transparency of this process.
