Final consultation roundtable on the proposed amendments to the regulation “On the criteria and procedures for granting authorizations” was held in Pogradec, where the Audiovisual Media Authority Chairwoman, Ms. Armela Krasniqi, met with authorized operators from the Korça region.
The proposed amendments to the regulation “On the criteria and procedures for granting authorizations” have received the support of over 70% of authorized operators by AMA across Albania.
AMA’s Chairwoman Ms. Krasniqi told those present at the meeting that all audiovisual entities selling audiovisual products must strictly adhere to the type of content for which they are licensed.
“It’s important to understand that the activity some entities have chosen to pursue, selling free-to-air channels bundled with the product they are authorized to provide, is a legal deviation and an exploitation of regulatory gaps that have existed so far in the authorization regulation and this abuse can no longer continue”, stated Ms. Krasniqi.
She added that, for this reason, all entities must begin preparations to reconfigure their decoders and ensure compliance with the law, as there is no reason to include free-to-air channels in the packages offered by retransmission entities without formal agreements with the original content producers.
