The fight against the television piracy phenomenon, carried out by entities unauthorized by AMA to provide audiovisual services, has been one of the main objectives of AMA’s inspection teams.
During 2024, the inspection teams have done 315 checks on the activities of audiovisual media service providers. Of these, 220 were inspections targeting piracy, while 95 were on frequency monitoring.
Piracy is a concerning reality in the Albanian media market, where audiovisual media service providers are pirated by small companies that find ways to infiltrate the market, primarily through online services offering illegal broadcasts for which they have no rights. For this reason, inspection teams have focused their attention on identifying these violators. Additionally, every complaint received by AMA regarding the violation of these rights has been handled with utmost seriousness, and all necessary legal measures have been taken for each violation.
