2023 Periodic Bulletin: Gender Evaluation in Television Programs

With percentage fluctuations from one channel to another, but without data reflecting gender bias, this is the conclusion of the evaluation for gender engagement in television programs, as stated in the 2023 Periodic Bulletin. This applies to engagement both as moderators and as guests on shows.

These interesting data come from monitoring conducted over a one-week period in December last year. The conclusions show that, for example, on Klan TV, 64% of moderators are men, while 58% of guests on the shows were women. Similarly, Vizion Plus has almost an equal distribution between women and men moderators, at 51% and 49%, respectively, but when it comes to guests, 58% were women and only 42% were men. Top Channel has a women moderator majority at 62%, with a similar guest ratio of 58% men and 42% women. RTSH has 59% women moderators, while 58% of guests were men, similar to the previous year.

Audiovisual subjects in their program structures include shows or segments that air daily, one or couple of times a week, or on a less frequent basis. Some of them are also seasonal, airing during a specific time of the year, depending on the thematic focus.

The above evaluation was conducted for 12 television subjects, with more detailed data available on AMA’s official website at  https://ama.gov.al/ova_dep/buletini-periodik/
