“Freedom of Expression and the Right to Information are the two foundations of our regulatory work in the audio and audiovisual market. To safeguard these fundamental rights and further regulate this sector, advancing even more toward European standards, we are fully committed to the implementation of Ownership Structure Transparency and the identification of Direct and Indirect Beneficial Owners of audio and audiovisual media, with data easily accessible on AMA’s official website. As well as the promotion of the Audience Measurement process and the legislative alignment with the key EU acts aimed at further regulating the audio/audiovisual market”- stated AMA’s Chair.
Krasniqi told those present that AMA operates as a fully independent authority, a fact demonstrated by its consensus-based decisions, which have never been contested.
“For us, an audiovisual market that meets European standards is not only an obligation within Albania’s EU integration process, but also a challenge dictated by the media landscape and technological developments, a professional and institutional responsibility that must be fulfilled” – concluded Krasniqi.
This year, the plenary session has a thematic focus on issues related to Chapter 23 – Judiciary and Fundamental Rights, reflecting the ongoing EU accession negotiations. The session addressed key topics such as human rights, equality and inclusion, freedom of expression and the media, as well as the right to information and the protection of personal data.
