AMA’s Chair, Ms. Armela Krasniqi, was invited to the Department of Journalism and Communication for the presentation of “The journalism profession and journalism in the age of technological change and new media” study.
For Ms. Krasniqi, the findings of this study, presented by Prof. Dr. Mark Marku during a roundtable with academics, journalists and communication professionals, are highly interesting and valuable, as they contribute to the trends analysis and understanding in the media market.
According to the study conducted by the Department of Journalism and Communication, digital technology has entered and become integrated into the media landscape in Albania. To a considerable extent, journalists use it and are psychologically open to adopting it. However, digital technology and digital journalism are not the same thing. A certain delay is evident in the development and application of digital journalism standards. There is a tendency for the digital journalism potential to be used to produce journalism characteristic of the analogue technologies and linear media era.
Technology has transformed communication and the role of journalists has now evolved, becoming increasingly complex. Adapting to this new reality, where new communication tools and content-generation methods are intertwined with the classical journalism we knew only a few years ago, has created a new paradigm in media content production.
AMA has established a strong cooperation tradition with the Department of Journalism and Communication and supporting studies of this kind represents a valuable contribution both to the media market analysis and its emerging trends, as well as to the conclusions that provide meaningful guidance for media professionals and for this new generation in the communication field.
