AMA organizes the first interinstitutional meeting to establish the Task Force against digital and audiovisual piracy

In implementation of the recommendation issued by the National Council for European Integration, the Audiovisual Media Authority convened the first interinstitutional meeting to draft the Memorandum of Understanding for the establishment and operation of the National Task Force on combating digital and audiovisual piracy and protecting broadcasting rights.

The first draft of the Memorandum was prepared by the working group established within AMA and was presented to the participating institutions for discussion.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the National Cyber Security Authority (AKSK), the Electronic and Postal Communications Authority (AKEP), the State Police and the General Directorate of Taxation. Discussions were held at the technical level and focused on the establishment of the Task Force, its operational framework and the roles and responsibilities of each participating institution.

Technological developments have created new challenges in the fight against audiovisual piracy. The overwhelming majority of complaints concerning violation of broadcasting rights involve Internet Service Providers (ISPs) that illegally retransmit television content via the internet.

AMA has long been committed to combating this phenomenon and its inspection teams continuously trace, identify and report offenders. Whenever necessary, they also seek the intervention of the State Police, the Prosecution Office and other law enforcement authorities to ensure that those responsible are held accountable under the law.

For quite some time, AMA has undertaken a range of measures to identify and combat this phenomenon. Its inspection teams monitor, investigate and report piracy cases and, where necessary, have cooperated with the State Police, the Prosecution Office and other law enforcement authorities to ensure that offenders are held accountable under the law.

The establishment of the interinstitutional Task Force aims to strengthen cooperation and coordination among the competent authorities by creating a sustainable mechanism for preventing and combating digital and audiovisual piracy, protecting broadcasting rights, safeguarding licensed operators and serving the public interest.
