The Chairwoman of the Audiovisual Media Authority, Ms. Armela Krasniqi, held a consultative meeting today with audio and audiovisual media service providers’ representatives to discuss several additions and amendments to the regulation “On audiovisual commercial communications, their formats, conditions and the daily time allowed for advertising broadcasts”.
The discussion focused on the legal obligation of audiovisual media service providers to ensure transparency regarding advertising financed through public funds. Alongside the proposed amendments to the regulation, a self-declaration form has also been prepared, through which audiovisual media service providers will declare any advertising revenues originating from the state budget, as well as revenues originating from third countries that are not EU Member States.
These amendments are linked to the European Media Freedom Act (EMFA) requirements, as reflected in Albanian audiovisual legislation, and aim to ensure full transparency regarding the revenues received by media operators from the government and state agencies.
The process of transposing European legislation relating to the media is important both for European integration and for the further regulation of the audio and audiovisual media market in Albania, in line with European standards.
