With a focus on the legal alignment with the European Digital Services Act (DSA), a multilateral TAIEX meeting was held in Brussels, organized by the European Commission. The Audiovisual Media Authority was represented by Chairwoman Ms. Armela Krasniqi and the Director of the Directorate for Integration and International Legislation, Ms. Ledjona Dalipaj.
The meeting brought together representatives from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia and Ukraine, to exchange experiences and discuss the necessary steps for aligning the legislation of candidate countries and the region with the European Digital Services Act (DSA).
Over the two-day meeting, representatives from the European Commission and regulatory authorities from EU Member States presented the latest developments in the implementation of the DSA within the European Union. Discussions focused on key issues such as the protection of children online, ensuring the electoral processes integrity in the digital space, the security of online markets and mechanisms for addressing systemic risks associated with large digital platforms.
As part of this activity, bilateral meetings were also held with high-level officials from the European Commission’s DG CNECT and DG ENEST, where the latest developments in the online platforms governance were discussed.
During these meetings, Chairwoman Ms. Armela Krasniqi presented the steps taken at both institutional and legislative levels for the gradual alignment of the regulatory framework with the DSA requirements. In this context, the Audiovisual Media Authority contribution was highlighted in analyzing the compatibility of existing legislation with the European Union acquis, as well as in identifying the necessary measures to strengthen the protection of fundamental rights in the online space, freedom of expression, the safeguarding of minors and the fight against illegal online content.
Participation in this meeting is considered an important step in capacity-building and in developing the preliminary knowledge and skills required to handle the processes assigned to regulators under the DSA.
