AMA’s Chair, Ms. Armela Krasniqi, made a two-day visit to the United States.
During her stay in Washington, D.C., accompanied by AMA’s Secretary General Ronelda Rrapollari, Ms. Krasniqi was welcomed at the U.S. Department of State by John W. Robbins, Officer for Albanian Affairs; Michael Marble, Public Diplomacy Officer for Central European Affairs; and Evan Lord, Officer for International Policy Initiatives.
The discussions focused on media ownership transparency, the transposition of key European acts into Albanian legislation and other legal initiatives aimed at the media market further regulation.
Chair Krasniqi presented to the representatives of the U.S. Department of State AMA’s initiatives to date concerning the regulation of video-sharing platforms and the challenges associated with this regulatory process. The meeting also addressed negative phenomena such as disinformation and hate speech in all their forms, issues related to information integrity and other matters concerning the media environment in Albania.
“This visit serves our institution, which is no longer merely a beneficiary but also a contributor to policies related to information integrity and media freedom”, stated Krasniqi following this visit.
