The roundtables discussions for the fight against online piracy have stopped in the regions of Shkodra and Lezha. The Chair of AMA, Ms. Armela Krasniqi, explained to the cable operators representatives authorized by AMA in these two regions that the Audiovisual Media Authority is committed to the fight against piracy, while discussing concrete ways to address this issue.
“After we pass the public consultation phase, we will submit our proposals for legal changes to the Parliament,” said Ms. Krasniqi, while she listening to the concerns of legitimate operators in the districts of Shkodra and Lezha.
Pirate broadcasts of audiovisual content by unauthorized entities is one of the main concerns of the audiovisual market and one of the key objectives of AMA’s work. With the development of technology, piracy cases have increased, primarily done by ISPs, who in addition to providing internet services, also offer audiovisual products illegally. This has naturally become a problem and concern for the legitimate entities that have been operating in the market for years, respecting the rules and current legislation.
“The increase in ISP entities offering audiovisual products illegally is damaging competition and honest operators, and we will not stop fighting against them,” guaranteed AMA Chair Ms. Armela Krasniqi.
The anti-piracy discussion tables will expand to all regions of the country.
Earlier, the AMA Chair held meetings with legal entities in the districts of Berat, Vlora, and Elbasan.
Regarding piracy, since the beginning of the collaboration with TikTok, 953 videos have been reported for piracy, of which 917 have been removed, meanwhile 131 profiles have been closed due to reported pirated content, and 35 are still under process.
