Today, on September 30th 2020, at noon, analog television broadcasting was terminated in 4 regions of the country, namely Elbasan, Shkodra, Lezha and Vlora. The switching from analog to digital broadcasting in these regions follows the digitalization process, which started in Tirana, Durrës, Berat, Korça and Fier regions. As was mentioned by AMA during the public information and awareness raising campaign on the digitalization process, the switching from analog to digital broadcasting ensures service quality and a wide range of TV programs to citizens, and it also encourages interoperability and increases market competitiveness among audiovisual operators.
Audiovisual broadcasting digitalization increases the number of free channels for citizens. Thus, citizens of Shkodra region currently watch 37 channels, citizens of Vlora watch 36 channels, citizens of Elbasan watch 33 channels, and citizens of Lezha watch 32 channels that are free of charge.
AMA would like to thank national, regional and local audiovisual subjects for their engagement on finalizing the digitalization process in the 4 regions.
