The Chairwoman of the Audiovisual Media Authority, Ms. Armela Krasniqi, and the Prosecutor General, Mr. Olsian Çela, today signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at strengthening the fight against digital audiovisual piracy.
This Memorandum fulfils AMA’s obligations under the Parliament’s 2026 Resolution and establishes a sustainable cooperation mechanism between the two institutions. It provides for the identification and documentation of violations, the exchange of information, and the referral of cases that may constitute criminal offences, with the aim of ensuring a more coordinated and effective response, in accordance with the statutory powers of each institution.
During the signing, Ms. Krasniqi emphasized that inter-institutional cooperation is essential in addressing increasingly sophisticated forms of piracy. She thanked the Prosecutor General for his commitment to this joint effort, highlighting the agreement’s contribution to safeguarding fair competition and fostering the development of an audiovisual market aligned with European standards.
Ms. Krasniqi emphasized that the protection of broadcasting rights remains an ongoing commitment of AMA, aimed at safeguarding the work of creators, the investments of legitimate operators, and fair competition in the audiovisual market. Piracy harms the industry, undermines creative work, and discourages investment in high-quality content for the public.
