The 22nd Plenary Assembly of the European Regulators Group for Audiovisual Media, the role of regulators in overseeing traditional media was discussed

The  European Regulators Group for Audiovisual Media Services (ERGA) assembly, was held in Rome to discuss and debate on the role of regulatory authorities in regulating content sharing across all types of platforms.
 
The meeting was intentionally held at the Italian Parliament, symbolizing the home of democracy and the sovereignty of the people.
 
During the first day of ERGA’s periodic meeting, discussions focused on: The role of media regulators in overseeing traditional media, online content haring, and the EU’s adopted normative acts such as the Digital Services Act (DSA), the Audiovisual Media Services Directive (AVMSD), etc.
 
An important point for the participating countries at this meeting was the implementation of provisions following the adoption of the European Media Freedom Act (EMFA) and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
 
Key discussions also focused on the challenges and lessons learned from the current media legislation, particularly the European Audiovisual Media Services Directive, as well as the measures or amendments needed for the future.
 
The meeting was attended by the AMA delegation, alongside representatives from the European Commission, major platforms such as Google and META, academia…
