The Audiovisual Media Authority continues the “Speak Albanian” campaign by monitoring the use of foreign words in audiovisual media in order to preserve the purity of the Albanian language.
Given the widespread phenomenon of unnecessary foreign word usage, not only in daily life but also in the media, the Audiovisual Media Authority is collaborating with linguist Adelina Qosja Çerpja from the Institute of Linguistics and Literature. In addition to identifying linguistic errors in the media, correct forms have been provided to assist media workers in avoiding their repetition.
“With the belief that this will help raise awareness among media workers about protecting the Albanian language, AMA will continue this monitoring by periodically publishing its findings and alternative foreign words in the Albanian language” said the Chair of AMA, Armela Krasniqi.
