The Audiovisual Media Authority and the Independent Media Commission held a business meeting in Tirana. The President of the AMA, Mrs. Armela Krasniqi and the Head of the IMC Mr. Xhevat Latifi discussed on a variety of issues faced by both institutions under their responsibility.
The implementation of Directive 2018/1808 is one of the obligations stemming from the various international commitments of the two countries and as such it requires decision-making and full commitment of both institutions.
AMA and IMC availed of this opportunity to exchange information on the work done so far in this regard, focusing on the way each country will implement the said Directive. Directive 2018/1808 addresses a number of issues, which require a set of arrangements in the audiovisual media and is currently fully implemented by almost all EU countries.
Ms. Krasniqi and Mr. Latifi agreed to hold a regional meeting of the Western Balkan countries with the view to exchange experiences in implementing the Directive and to obtain best practices from countries that have marked significant advancements in this regard.
The drafting of the new law on audiovisual media in Kosovo and the digitalization process was one of the hot points of the meeting discussions. AMA committed to exchange its thoughts and experience gained during the drafting of Law no. 97/2013 “On Audiovisual Media in the Republic of Albania” and its digitalization process.
