Press Release

On today’s meeting, November 25th, 2019, the Audiovisual Media Authority (AMA) addressed the continuation of the digitalization process in the regions where it has not ended yet.

Based on the data obtained from on-site monitoring, it was found that Shkodra, Lezha, Elbasan, and Vlora regions have a better digital coverage as compared to other regions (Kukës, Dibra, Gjirokastra), thus AMA unanimously decided that:

The final deadline for terminating analog broadcasting in Shkodra, Lezha, Elbasan and Vlora regions shall be March 31st, 2020.

In compliance with this decision, AMA administration will take all necessary legal measures during this period, and will continue the public information campaign in Shkodra, Lezha, Elbasan and Vlora allotments, in addition to the coordination with national audiovisual operators in order for them to take the necessary measures for installing the remaining broadcasting stations in the above-cited allotments and fully covering these regions’ territories with digital signal, coordination with local/regional audiovisual operators in these regions, in order to support their programs on the national digital networks, and assessment of citizens’ equipment with DVB-T2 receivers in these regions.

In conclusion, AMA requests all operators in these regions to take measures for executing AMA decision, and calls for residents of these regions who watch analog TV broadcasts, to be equipped with a DVB-T2 digital terrestrial decoder or a TV with a built-in decoder, within March 31st, 2020.
